Welcome to my online abode.  I am a professor of Communication interested in Rhetoric, Argumentation, and Media.  I received my BS from Kansas State University and an MA & PhD in Communication Studies at Northwestern University.  This site provides information about my research, websites that I supervise, and selected interviews with media.

During the 2012-2013 academic year, I am pleased to be a Visiting Professor in the Comparative Media Studies and Writing & Humanistic Studies Programs at MIT.  Effective July 1, 2013, I will dropping the word "visiting" from my title as I will be joining MIT on a permanent basis.
